Thank goodness. Wally is still here. She hasn't forgotten what she heard from him at August's swear-in.
When she answers, she makes sure her voice is strong and cheerful, but not too fake. None of the sniveling stuff. Wally's smiling for her, and it just won't feel right not to answer to that.]
Wally! I'm sorry, I just saw this message. I'd love to go out somewhere -- I actually haven't been to a science center in years, if you have anywhere in mind. And I'll have to think of something to show you, too!
PREPARE FOR SOME TLDR; that night
Any other day, a call or text from Wally would not have gone ignored for this long, but with Wanda, Tadashi and Kaneki gone and out, they're shorthanded, and it's busy at the café. By the time Cass has said goodbye to the last patron and cleaned up the place, it's well past closing hours and she's tired, although she did appreciate the distraction. Anyway, it's late when she finally finds time to look at her phone and realizes there's a message in her voicemail. And when she listens to it, she cries. It's been a long two days without Tadashi, and she's finally been here long enough to experience multiple disappearances (and sometimes returns), but more than the grief of loss what hits her now is relief.
